Tohru Honda is 16. She is an orphaned high school student. Tohru ends up sharing house with Shigure, Yuki and Kyo Sohma.

She loves to cook, is an excellent housekeeper and has an after school job as a janitor to help pay her tuition fees (since she doesn't want to be a burden on her grandfather). She's always polite, and is extremely (to an unbelievable extent) kind and selfless; in fact, the other characters sometimes have to tell her that she needs to look out for her own interests. Both of her parents are deceased. Her Mother, Kyoko, was a celebrated "yankee"-gang leader, and her father was a young high school teacher. Her Father died of pneumonia when Tohru was three years old and her mother of a car accident when Tohru first entered High school.

Tohru is a very kind girl who is always looking on the bright side of everything. Despite the attitude anyone else shows her, she always shows kindness. She even influenced Kyo and Yuki to tone the constant fighting down.

She is usually very deep in thought, and due to this fact, she is very clumsy. In turn for her room at Shigure's house, she cleans the house and makes all their meals for them. And no matter how much Yuki or Kyo get depressed or angry, she never gives up trying to get them to look on the bright side. She even blows all of her money to buy everyone chocolates for Valentine's day.

Before she met Yuki and Shigure, she had been living in a tent on what she did not know was their property. Tohru was at first only offered a night there to recover from a fever. Then in the morning, Yuki asked her if she would like to stay there. Things get interesting when she finds out the Sohma family curse.

the happy days

dear diary,

It seems like Kyo-kun has joined on our TV marathons every Fridays. I'm really happy that we get to do something fun on Friday nights. I may have to reschedule my next Friday shift to some other day. I just hope that they'd allow me to work Saturday instead. Anyway, enough worrying about next week.

During the marathon, it made me ponder how long we would keep doing it. What started only 2 weeks ago is becoming a trend. But there's more to it than what I was pondering, believe or not, I was actually wondering what will happen to me in the future. What good am I? What am I going to do in the future? I was lost in space.

"Yawn. Ehh. You guys are still awake?" Shigure-san noticed us while he was getting a drink from the kitchen.

"We're having a movie marathon! It's Saturday tomorrow anyway." says Kyo-kun.

"You mean, it's Sunday tomorrow." Oh. Shigure-san's right. It's about 2:42am.

"Yeah, whatever. Go back to sleep. You're making me miss the dialogue."

"I didn't know you pay attention to the dialogue, Kyo." Sohma-kun interrupted.

And then Kyo-kun looked at Sohma-kun "I didn't know that you're so engrossed to the movie I picked, Yuki. So now what do you say about my taste in these?" Kyo seemed like he was pleased with himself.

"A movie marathon! Can I join too?"

"Don't you have a meeting tomorrow?" reminded Kyo-kun.

"Yeah. Tomorrow." Shigure-san looked up with a slight grin.

Sohma-kun sighed afterwards. "Don't you have a meeting this morning?"

"You guys all have the fun. I wish I would grow back to being a teenager." It was funny how Shigure-san wanted to go back to being a teenager. Isn't it the other way around? Like kids want to be an adult?

"Ano..." I wanted to say that Shigure-san can join us but--

"Let's just go to sleep, Tohru." Shigure-san interrupts me with something that surprised Kyo-kun and Sohma-kun.

"HEY! WE'RE WATCHING!" Kyo-kun pushed Shigure back to his room.

I don't know what time I fell asleep. But I woke up in the couch. Kyo-kun was having a cereal and Sohma-kun was nowhere. Kyo-kun said that the prince is asleep in his room. But I wonder... why did Kyo looked like he was holding his laughter when I was talking to him?

"Oh. Someone's at the door. I'll get it."

Suddenly, Kyo-kun spit milk out of his nose. I asked what happened, and he said it was nothing. So I answered the door and it was the mailman.

"I have a package for Sohma,--" the mailman stopped and smiled. Then he looked away for a bit. I was wondering what was wrong. "-- sorry, I have a package for Sohma, Shigure."

"Ah. I'll sign it for him." It's nice to see that everyone is happy.

Sohma-kun presents...

dear diary,

I was quite surprised to find a lot of guests at home. Haru-kun and Momiji-kun stopped by this Friday. I thought that they'd be staying over like they would often do. And so I made too much snacks for tonight's TV marathon. However, Momiji-kun and Haru-kun left around 10pm. It was Momiji-kun's father who picked them up. I was really surprised to meet Momiji's father and I should've made something for him to eat.

"Thank you for always taking care of Momiji. Come now, guys. It's late."

"Eh? Can't we sleep over?" asked Momiji-kun.

"Not tonight." His father says.

Anyway, tonight's marathon was really fun. Sohma-kun and I watched an a series called 'Last'. It was interesting, because we were kept second guessing on what would happen on the next episode. The end of every episode was a cliffhanger. And so it was hard to put it a stop. Kyo-kun was asleep on the couch after the third episode. But he woke up around the 12th episode. There were 24 episodes in all. I think.

"Next week again?" asks Sohma-kun.

"Hai." I said.

"And perhaps it's better to let the sleepers sleep, right Kyo?"

"Hah? Next week I WILL be the one who'll be in charge what to watch." Kyo-kun insisted.

Sohma-kun raised his eyebrow. "Well that sounds like a complete disaster."

"Shut up, you damn rat."

I'm still A- Okay. 11:01 AM

popcorn and caffeine at the ready

dear diary,

Sohma-kun wanted to try out this event called 'marathon'. Iie iie. It's not about running and exercise, it's about watching a movie or a series straight until the last episode. I have to admit, I'm pretty excited about it since Yuki-san placed an online order watching a mystery drama. I was kind of clueless too when Sohma-kun was ordering the series from a website. Because I'm pretty much used to buying things from a store. Anyway, the Internet is amazing.

Shigure-san signed up for a broadband connection and I'm saving for a laptop this Christmas. He also has a-- what do you call it?-- a Wyfy rooter? It's so I can connect my future laptop to the Internet without the cable. Shigure-san is really encouraging me. Speaking of computers-- Kyo-kun bought one! Sugoi dessho!

Sohma-kun isn't really interested in these things, but when he caught me staying up late to watch a tv show (it was during a weekend), he said that the show was amazing and so Sohma-kun stayed up late with me. I had the tv show recorded on the cable box. Oh yeah. Shigure-san's cable box is amazing.

I think Sohma-kun wants to try another tv marathon run this weekend. Actually, Sohma-kun asked me if I'm doing anything this weekend. I was a bit flustered when he asked, because I thought we were going on a d-d-date. But I should know better.

"I think it's really fun to stay up late just watching your favorite shows. I heard from my peers in the student council about a drama mystery series, and I was thinking of renting the whole season, but I couldn't find it in the rental bar-- do the clerks there always stare at customers?-- Ah. But I had money with me and I just ordered online-- so I was wondering if--" And Sohma-kun told me this while he was buying microwaveable popcorn in the convenience store. "H- hora. Those clerks are also staring."

"Huh?" oh. I was also staring. "What is it, Sohma-kun?"

"I was wondering if we could watch the series together on Friday night?"

"S- sure!"

I felt really happy. And today's about to end.

I'm still A- Okay. 6:31 PM
