She loves to cook, is an excellent housekeeper and has an after school job as a janitor to help pay her tuition fees (since she doesn't want to be a burden on her grandfather). She's always polite, and is extremely (to an unbelievable extent) kind and selfless; in fact, the other characters sometimes have to tell her that she needs to look out for her own interests. Both of her parents are deceased. Her Mother, Kyoko, was a celebrated "yankee"-gang leader, and her father was a young high school teacher. Her Father died of pneumonia when Tohru was three years old and her mother of a car accident when Tohru first entered High school. Tohru is a very kind girl who is always looking on the bright side of everything. Despite the attitude anyone else shows her, she always shows kindness. She even influenced Kyo and Yuki to tone the constant fighting down.
She is usually very deep in thought, and due to this fact, she is very clumsy.
In turn for her room at Shigure's house, she cleans the house and makes all their meals for them.
And no matter how much Yuki or Kyo get depressed or angry, she never gives up trying to get them to look on the bright side.
She even blows all of her money to buy everyone chocolates for Valentine's day. Before she met Yuki and Shigure, she had been living in a tent on what she did not know was their property. Tohru was at first only offered a night there to recover from a fever. Then in the morning, Yuki asked her if she would like to stay there. Things get interesting when she finds out the Sohma family curse.

Sunday, January 01, 2006 time for a fresh start "I'm worried. I don't want you to get into trouble. Is it really okay for both of you to stay here? I'll be fine -- really. I won't cry. I promise. I don't want to put you in harms way. So, please be honest and..." "Look it's not a problem. We already did this last time. Don't worry yourself. We should be happy welcoming the New Year." interrupted Kyo-kun. Shigure-san entered the room and asked, "Yuki-kun, Kyo-kun. Why aren't you two dressed up? I thought we were going to the main house." "No! We're not going to the Sohma house! We're staying put." yelled the both of them. "Suit yourself." smiles Shigure-san, then runs out of the house. "Are you sure you two are not going? I hope I'm not getting you into any trouble." I can't be too careful. I need to make sure, so I asked again. "We did this the last time and nothing bad happened, right?" answered Kyo-kun. "Sorta." answered Yuki-kun. Suddenly, the air became heavy. The living room fell silent. Yuki-kun stood up and went to the kitchen. Kyo-kun faced away. There was something wrong in the scene. It felt like Kyo-kun was trembling before me. I pictured a different Kyo-kun. It was obvious that Kyo-kun's bothered by something. So I looked at him. "Kyo-kun? Daijobou?" I asked. I think he needs my help. "Ah, it's nothing... It's nothing." but it sure seemed that there was something. When Yuki-kun returned to the living room, the three of us had a beautiful conversation. We talked about the beautiful sakuras and their different types. We had a conversation about takoyaki, tofu, ramen... leeks and so on. We reminisced about the past seasons, especially what happened during the winter. Don't forget! We also played cards. From guess the card to poker to bluff. We were counting on playing rich-man-poor-man but there were only three of us. "Kyo-kun, do you believe in miracles?" I asked. Kyo-kun stood up and went to open the door -- maybe for a walk? I wonder why he didn't answer my question. Was it something I said? Baka! Why would I ask him in the first place? ...But when he opened it, the surprise rocked everybody in the house. "How are you Kyo-kun?" "Yo." "AAAH! Hana-chan! Uo-chan! At this time of night?! What are you two doing here?" shouted Kyo-kun. It was Hana-chan and Uo-chan! It's late! "Gomen, Tohru-kun, Kyon-Kyon, Prince Yuki." excused Hana-chan "Sorry for the interruption, Tohru-kun. But Hana-chan thought that it would be a good idea to drop by. She's just making sure that Tohru-kun is not alone." said Uo-chan "Ahh, arigato gozaimasu. I'm touched that both of you were worried -- utmost touched. Don't worry, Yuki-kun and Kyo-kun were here with me all the time. We were just playing Bluff, but now we can play Rich-Man-Poor-Man." I was right! Miracles do exist! "Ano, Hana-chan. Haven't you celebrated the New Year with your family?" I querried "Yes, I did. After that they went straight to bed. But I snuck out and gave them a note telling that I would visit a friend and come back in the morning." explained Hana-chan "How about you, Uo-chan?" asked Yuki-kun "Yeah, we lit some fireworks. After that, Hana-chan dropped by and asked me to go with her." "Sou desu ka." replied Yuki-kun. "Let's play rich-man-poor-man, then" exclaimed Yuki. And we did! We played rich-man-poor-man. Uo-chan and Yuki-kun are great. They're vying for first place. Hana-chan is somewhat in the middle. I, on the other hand, was able to finish first for one game. I had so much fun. It was truly a game of my life. But when I turned to Kyo-kun, the game didn't seem fun at all. It was the sixth game and Hana-chan, Uo-chan and Yuki-kun were finished. Kyo-kun's face was lifeless. I decided to put a very low card, in order for him to finish before me. I dropped a 4 of clubs. "Did you do that on purpose?" asked Kyo-kun. "Hah? No, I didn't." "YEAH!" shouted Kyo-kun. Life poured back into Kyo-kun's face. He jumped and ran upstairs. I had no idea it was almost New Year! So I followed him -- we all did. The five of us went upstairs to greet the sunrise! I still remember the sky slowly lighting up. It's glued in my mind -- a bleak gray into a softer blue sky. We were all excited to blow our wishes! Then there it is! It was the sun along with its golden rays of light! The air was fresh for fresh start. Happy New Year! I'm still A- Okay. 10:46 PM ![]() |
